The binomial aesthetics-technology and the concept of the Anthropocene
What would the possibilities be for our environment’s continuous development and evolution by implementing creativity, techniques, and learning processes to problem-solving and improvement through design? Intriguing problems drive creativity and the development of methods to overcome the limits of ideas and thinking, which involves searching for greater understanding, knowledge, and, above all, a better capacity to communicate and relate within our environments. What are the references in the history of design in support of social and technological development? At the end of the 20th century, the technological transformations that took place were determinants for the consequences of global industrial action concerning the new directions toward a green economy.
There is a critical examination of the various theoretical and methodological approaches in aesthetics in this context, intending to deepen architecture, art, and design research issues. Furthermore, there is an examination of artistic creation, considering its integration into current affairs. Art and design are perceived as a social phenomenon, meaning, and materiality in creative solutions. The investigation method treats the creative production in their cognitive processes based on successive technological revolutions. The central theme is binomial aesthetics-technology and involves a critical analysis of technology, artificial intelligence, and [non-]human performance. This technical analysis reflects the cultural, political, economic, and, consequently, creative unpredictability due to the new paradigm established at the end of the 20th century—this paradigm allowed for the development of a new aesthetic. Under these conditions, arts, architecture, design, and their respective innovation ideas acquire a new status in actuality. The focus is on aesthetics analysis and implementing arts, architecture, and design. The architectural space is analyzed in terms of social environments. To this aim, media presence shall be addressed based on the algorithmic rule, which directs society toward a significant change concerning space and time for concrete visual experiences. Therefore, architecture and design continue to be challenging activities that can transform culture, society, and nature. These are some of the many human actions shaping the world and forcing us to overcome earthly concerns related to the new human condition—the Anthropocene. Many factors influence the complex environmental transformation, but it is understood that architecture and design play a significant role both in causing and solving it. Among several designs or architectural projects related to new technologies, some proposals shall be developed in this research line, which focuses on transforming individual values and cultural patterns in society towards sustainable development globally.
